New York City Day 2

The second day we started out with church in Manhattan. The meeting was in the same building as the temple. Then we walked to Brooklyn Bridge, ferried to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (it was freeeezing, by the way), toured more cemeteries and some catacombs, Little Italy and Chinatown, and visited the site of the twin towers. We walked until our feet were numb and also figured out how to ride the subway. I loved all of the architecture and being able to finally see in person what I'd only read and watched from a distance my entire life. It really is an amazing place.

 

New York City Day 1

We started the new year off with an exciting trip to New York City for Barry and me! We had three days to get in as much as we could, and we definitely did a lot! We met Jeni and Nolan there the morning after we arrived. The first day we explored Central Park, some churches, the public library, Times Square, saw Phantom of the Opera (which was amazing, but our seats stunk), the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and more!

 

December

Here are a few other moments from December:

Warren received a nativity from his primary teacher Brother Tanner.

Sawyer has caught the reading bug lately.

Miles went to a birthday party for his friend Felix at Hands on Art.

Clara had a Christmas concert.

Miles played with friends which is his favorite thing.

We went shopping one night and found some ugly sweaters and ate some Zeppe's.

Kanab

One of our gifts to the kids for Christmas was a trip to Kanab. We'd never been there before and were hoping it would be warm, but it was kind of snowy and cold. We still had fun, though. We played games in our hotel room, found a couple fun places to shop - the kids love rock shops - and hiked to the wind caves. That hike was a little intimidating because it was steep and slippery. Some of the kids were a little freaked out, but we made it! We also drove around to see some of the sites and ate at some local restaurants. Now if we could just get along on our trips, our adventures would be perfect! 😄

 

Girls' Trip to See The Little Mermaid

Clara and I had a fun outing with my mom, sisters, and Mackayla. We went to Gardner Village, HuHot, shopping, but the main event was seeing The Little Mermaid at Hale Center Theater. The set, costumes, music, and everything were just so amazing and fun. I sure love all of these beautiful women!

 

Christmas

We did the usual for Christmas this year - made spudnuts for our neighbors, had a fancy Italian dinner, acted out the nativity, and opened Christmas pajamas and exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. Christmas was on Sunday this year so with 9:00 church we decided just to do stockings before church. It was kind of nice to have that pause before ripping into presents.
